The music world is mourning a massive loss, and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is finally opening up about her heartbreak.
Days after the tragic passing of New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert, Hayley took to her Instagram Stories to share a deeply emotional and candid tribute to her ex-husband. Chad, who was 45, passed away following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Hayley and Chad were a prominent couple in the alternative rock scene for nearly a decade. They began dating in 2008, tied the knot in 2016, and eventually separated in 2017. Despite their complicated past, Hayley’s message was filled with nothing but gratitude and respect.
“Have not known what to say or if it’s appropriate,” the 37-year-old singer began her heartfelt statement. “But I feel sure now that I want to because life is made of the paths we cross and the reasons we cross them are infinite.”
Hayley went on to praise Chad’s incredible impact on the music industry and the hardcore punk community. She called him a “legend in the scene” and credited him for introducing her to people, music, and culture that made her life so much richer.
“His influence and attitude guided the genre forward. His passion for fostering the community was inspiring and sticks with me,” she added, sending her deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and bandmates.
