A new era of mutants is officially coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the original Storm is sharing her thoughts!
For years, Academy Award winner Halle Berry brought the fierce and iconic mutant, Ororo Munroe (aka Storm), to life on the big screen. But with Marvel Studios rebooting the X-Men franchise, a fresh face is stepping into the legendary role.
If you missed the big announcement earlier this summer, fans were absolutely buzzing when Maya Boyd was officially cast as Storm in Marvel’s new X-Men movie. Now, Halle Berry is finally breaking her silence on her young successor.
During a recent interview with People, Halle was asked how she feels about the Broadway star taking over her superhero cape. And honestly, her response could not have been sweeter!
“I believe she’s going to kill it. You know what I mean?” Halle gushed. “My Storm was my Storm and I wish her so well. I very much look forward to seeing what her version will be. I’m sure she’s going to murder it.”
Halle even compared the recasting to her time playing Catwoman, noting that every actor brings their own unique flavor and internalization to a beloved character.
While fans are thrilled for Maya, many are still a little heartbroken over some other Marvel news. While original X-Men stars like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are reportedly returning for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, Halle has confirmed she will not be suiting up alongside them.
Still, it is amazing to see the original Storm passing the torch with so much love and class!
