The royal drama just keeps getting juicier! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made a highly publicized philanthropic visit to Nottingham, where they were greeted by massive, cheering crowds. But now, royal insiders are claiming that the warm welcome might have been totally faked!
During a recent episode of A Right Royal Podcast, royal experts dropped a major bombshell about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s visit. According to correspondent Eleanor Dye, who was actually at the event, the enthusiastic crowd was heavily coached before the royal couple even arrived.
It was during this exact Nottingham trip that Prince Harry shared that hilarious and relatable story about Archie trying to avoid math class at his new school. While that moment was incredibly sweet, the behind-the-scenes reality of the crowd is raising some serious eyebrows.
Eleanor revealed that staff members from the charity came out to speak to the waiting fans before Harry and Meghan pulled up. “They told the crowds, ‘Make sure you cheer very loudly when they come out’ and ‘You can say, Meghan, I love you,’ which I thought was strange,” she spilled on the podcast.
Royal editor Emily Nash also chimed in, calling the situation “quite unusual.” She noted that while organizers sometimes tell rowdy schoolchildren to behave or sing nicely before a royal arrives, coaching a general crowd to scream “I love you” is definitely not the norm.
Some fans are wondering if the charity was just nervous about how the public would react to the controversial couple and wanted to “warm them up.” Others think it was a calculated PR move to make Harry and Meghan look more popular during their U.K. return.
Either way, the idea of staged cheers is definitely adding more fuel to the ongoing royal fire!
Do you think the charity was just being overly cautious, or was this a desperate PR stunt? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
