Kylie Kelce is officially brushing up on her royal etiquette! The popular podcast host and wife of retired NFL star Jason Kelce recently made headlines after inviting Kate Middleton to appear on her Not Gonna Lie podcast. But it turns out, Kylie made a slight royal faux pas during the invite.
During the September 24 episode, Kylie casually referred to the royal as “Princess Kate” and “Duchess of Cambridge.” While fans loved the idea of the two moms chatting about field hockey and kids, royal experts quickly pointed out that Kate’s formal title is actually Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Realizing her mistake, Kylie took to her podcast on Thursday to issue a very public and respectful apology.
“I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive,” Kylie admitted to her listeners. “I didn’t know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake.”
She then addressed the royal directly, saying, “Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now.”
The Kelce family is no stranger to royal connections. Just a few months ago, Prince William and his kids were spotted hanging out with Travis Kelce at Taylor Swift’s massive Eras Tour concert in London.
While Kylie knows it is a long shot that the Princess of Wales will actually hop on her podcast, she made it clear that the invitation still stands. She also promised fans that if the royal ever does accept, she will definitely clean up her famously colorful vocabulary!
“Would I curse at her face? No,” Kylie joked, adding that she has the utmost respect for the Princess.
