Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have been one of Hollywood’s most iconic power couples for over two decades. But according to Michael’s explosive new memoir, their romance almost didn’t happen!
In his brand-new book, One Helluva Ride, the 82-year-old legendary actor is spilling all the juicy details about the early days of his relationship with Catherine. And let’s just say, he had a lot of explaining to do!
Michael revealed that when he first met the stunning Mask of Zorro actress, he was newly separated from his first wife and casually dating five different women in five different cities. He thought he was being respectful by keeping them all separated, but Catherine was not having it.
According to Michael, Catherine gave him a strict ultimatum right from the start. “She told me she understood that I was a single guy who’d come out of a long marriage, but she would only be monogamous,” he wrote. “I’m not interested in dating you if you’re dating other people. You can either continue with them or end it and be with me.”
Faced with losing the woman of his dreams, Michael knew exactly what he had to do. He asked her to wait while he made “five quick calls” to break things off with the other women!
“That day, I called each one to say I met somebody and would no longer be able to continue seeing them. They all took it well,” he confessed.
And just like that, Michael was all in on Catherine. The couple tied the knot in 1999 and have been going strong ever since. It is so refreshing to see a Hollywood couple still so madly in love after all these years. Just recently, fans were swooning over Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel sharing rare PDA photos for their 14th anniversary, but Michael and Catherine are definitely the ultimate relationship goals!
